The story
Most of Bali
has been found.
The beach clubs are full, the ricefield views have villas in them, and “quiet” usually means twenty minutes from quiet. But follow the Ayung — the island’s longest river — upstream from Ubud, and there is still a bend where the only sound is water, birdsong and the canopy above it.
That bend is where Sonam is built. A rare riverside parcel — not a view from a rooftop, but a garden that ends where the river begins. Existing trees grow through the buildings, glass walls frame the jungle, and natural stone and timber carry the outside in.
In Tibetan, Sonam means merit, or good fortune — the same idea carried by the sun-mark inside the logo’s “o”.
